Belize 2010_17

The wind is such a tease this year. I guess its been a little weird everywhere. Anyway Matt woke me up saying that he was going to go out kiting but it doesn't look like much. I got up and went to launch him. He made an adjustment and went out on his new kite. I went in to brush my teeth and went back out to see him body dragging up wind to get back. I caught his kite and he told me that the wind had just died on him. He cleaned up and took a look at my kite it hasn't been holding air as good as it should be. He found the outtake valve was coming off, a fix that he had done when we were in Seattle. He took the 14m bladder out of the kite that blew up yesterday to fix and put in my kite. Well it holds air just fine thank goodness (thanks Jerry & Kathy!).

Matt went out to join dad and Karlene who where already out kiting and I decided to take pictures. There were a couple of kids fishing off the end of our dock and one of them wanted to talk my ear off about kiting. We had planned on going into town today but we canceled due to the light wind. It looked like Karlene didn't get the memo and she was all the way in town. We just laughed and thought she must have been having a good time. Madre' told me that Karlene actually came in near the Palapa Bar and that must have been one of the locals kiting in town.

Tonight was Indian night with J&G for their second to last meal. Karlene invited Gino and we all met up in Central Park at 7:45pm. The Blue Lotus is on the lagoon side and they provide a party barge type ferry across the lagoon. The ferry was only a couple of blocks away so we all rode our bikes there, locked them up and jumped aboard. The driver was very nice making small talk and I took silly pictures of all of us. Dinner was great, we all had something different and shared family style.

I suggested we all go for ice cream but our regular place (Mariano's Arcade) was closed so we went to the other one I knew of and barely made it in time. We ate our ice creams outside, J&G said bye and Gino invited us to his place for a night cap. It was only a couple of blocks away (as is everything downtown), great place. It reminded Matt of our first place in Seattle. We chatted the night away and I figured I better get home before I wasn't able. We said bye and thanks while Karlene showed Gino her new guitar skills.
