PUERTO RICO KITEBOARDING CUP 2011

The lighting for pictures wasn't what I ordered but the show was well worth the money!...(it was free). Paulo and Freddie our coworkers stole the show for the local pros and the "flown in" pros were fun to watch as well. What a nice change of pace.

La Mina Falls

Matt and I went back to the El Yunque Rainforest to visit La Mina Falls. We picked a bad time to go as it was Easter break and completely full of people but a good time all the same. We took a different road that was on a map in one of the travel books. It was a dead end but we did get a picture of "Caribbean" National Rainforest that we thought was cool. We got out and let the girls roam around because there was absolutely no one up this dead end road which was nice. When we were done we turned back to the main road and headed the normal way to the rainforest. We barely found parking and saw a tone of people on the trail and felt like we were at a water park when we finally got to the falls but they were beautiful and well worth it.

Cueva Ventana

We followed JT (Justin & Troy) back home from the farm and they took us to some caves that were off the side of the road on our way. We parked at a gas station where there were no signs just a dirt road headed up a hill. They told us they have never seen it this busy (good secrets don't last long I guess). It was about a 15-20 minute hike and we were at the entrance which was covered by rescue workers and climbing rope. Thankfully they were just doing routine practice drills. The caves were a treat. Pitch blackness to amazing views. It was a great little stop off.

The Bad Banana Farm

The wind has been in its “transitioning” stage from winter to spring which is typical this time of year and basically means there is no wind. So we decided to go to the farm, Justin and Troys farm in the mountains. We left a little before the rest of the crew because we were ready and restless to get out of town again. Justin had emailed us a map and directions that were good up until a point. Thankfully we had service were we where and Justin’s cousin Aaron was already at the farm ready to guide us in. After a little frustration we parked let the girls out and had a beer. Even though the sun had set and it was getting dark we could tell we were going to love this place.

Shortly after we arrived Justin, Troy, Phil, Karla & baby Stella arrived and we all got settled in. Karla and Troy made everyone fish tacos for dinner that were fabulous. We sat around the fire and chatted about everything. Matt and I slept great it was like camping but a little more plush. We had brought our tent but didn't need it as this place had 5 bedrooms! We slept down stairs and had an amazing view when we woke up. I could'nt stop taking pictures. Matt and I made breakfast for everyone that morning; eggs, bacon, sausage & potatoes. Yum. Troy even found two eggs from one of her hens in the fire place that Karla and I ate (it was sad when the hen went looking for them and got her feet burned by the coals from the previous nights fire!).

After breakfast another couple showed up and we all went folfing (frisbee golfing). The course was great and not to mention pretty challenging. The last hole I lost my frisbee but once I found out we were turning around I went on the hunt for it again and found it! That was it for me, my knee was sore. Phil and Matt cut down some coconuts on our way back for everyone to enjoy before our fabulous spaghetti lunch prepared by Aaron. After lunch Justin drove us all up to “the big house” which was the main house of the farm that is unfinished but has major potential. The views were amazing!

We played darts and wasted the time away. When dinner was prepared by Justin and Troy I didn't think I would have room but when I smelled the BBQ I knew we were in for a treat and I would be hungry. Gabby and her boyfriend (the couple that had come up earlier that day) had to leave abruptly because he was on call for work, that was a bummer. Dinner was another fabulous meal and we were all stuffed.

In the morning I had decided that it was time to take some pictures of Stella. She is not even two months old (I think) and so she didn't last long but we did manage to get some great pictures. After breakfast Phil, Karla & Stella took off to gear up for the week. The rest of us took our time packing and cleaning the house before we headed back to start the work week.
