Isabela, Rincon & La Parguera

Matt and I decided it was time for us to explore the west side. We got word of a great camp spot on the beach near Isabela on the north west coast. The place was pretty deserted almost a destination for 4 wheeling on the beach. We could see it was windy and text our friends to ask where Matt should kite. They told us to go to a beach called Shacks that we had heard about from Al and Dina. We wanted to check out a place to camp before we relaxed and Matt went kiting.

We drove all around this area we were told we could camp and saw some kiters. We thought it could be Shacks but we didn't know since we came down to the beach a different way. We saw a place that looked like a ranch and we made our way through to a building that had a bunch of surfboards and SUP boards. A guy was sitting at his desk watching us drive through somewhere that made us feel that we shouldn't be driving through. Matt got out and went to ask if we were in the right area and the guy asked in astonishment if we just drove through his garden! Matt was apologizing just as he had to answer the phone. It happened to be our friend Justin telling this guy that we where going to show up. He said “Ya their here, they just drove through my garden”.

When he got off the phone Matt finished apologizing and the guy said we where fine it wasn't finished yet. Matt asked if we could camp on the beach and how safe it was and he told us yes but his favorite place to camp was on the other side of the beach. We drove to the spot he told us about and decided it was good enough and it was time to get Matt out kiting. It was a little nerve racking being in a new place with coral everywhere and him having to kite by himself because I was still nursing an injured knee, but he had a great time in some small waves.

We set up camp and drove to a grocery store to grab some dinner. We just barely missed an amazing sunset on our way back. As I was getting the girls situated with their dinner Nick (I think that was the guys name from the shop) jogged up to us and was glad to see that we found the place. We had chili dogs for dinner and enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing on the reef.

We took a long walk with the girls in the morning and explored the caves Nick told us about that were in the cliff we were camping by. We drove to Isabella and got some coffee and had lunch in the town square where I took a few pictures of the church. We had a pretty relaxing day and caught the sunset for our second night there.

In the morning we decided to drive South along the West coast and explore some towns. We made a mental note to revisit Rincon as we just drove through. And La Parguera on the South side, both very cute towns. Back home through the mountains as we were greeted with a wall of rain coming out of the canyon, very cool.
